Requirements

To ensure successful installations and upgrades, you need to use the Digi Driver Upgrade Wizard. You must run this wizard

• Before you install a new adapter for the first time. (This prepares your system for Plug and Play installation of the correct drivers.) 
• Whenever you want to upgrade drivers for installed adapters. (This takes the place of the Windows Upgrade Device Driver Wizard.)

The following factors affect the process of installing or upgrading Digi device drivers:

• New Digi drivers may be delivered on a CD-ROM or downloaded from the Digi Support Web site (http://supportold.digi.com).  
• Digi drivers for Microsoft Windows 2000 may be either signed or unsigned.
• Some Digi adapters may have an outdated driver in the Windows 2000 driver database, which must be replaced when you install the adapter.
• A Digi device driver often supports multiple types of adapters. It is possible for driver version conflicts to occur, depending on the specific combination of adapters and drivers in your system.

Windows 2000 Plug and Play installation, while appropriate for most devices, does not resolve conflicts resulting from these factors. 

The Digi Driver Upgrade Wizard automatically resolves driver conflicts and ensures automated Plug and Play installation of new Digi adapters and drivers. It also presents options for installing and upgrading drivers depending on the adapters that are already in your system.

For most Digi adapters, a configuration wizard starts automatically as part of the installation or upgrade process. You may need to step through configuration wizards for your installed adapters, but your current configuration parameters remain intact unless you make changes.
