About Digi Port Authority

Digi Port Authority (DPA) is a monitoring tool that dynamically displays the status of Digi intelligent serial communications products installed in UNIX systems, and may be used to perform loopback tests on individual ports.

DPA may be used in place of PortAssist Manager in situations where PortAssist Manager cannot be used, either because the PortAssist Manager Agent fails to respond, or a web browser is unavailable. 

DPA provides the following types of status information:

• Adapter configuration: the resources used by the adapter
• Port status: the state of each EIA-232 signal
• Port configuration: the state of stty and ditty flags for each port
• Host adapter status (C/X and EPC/X adapters only): various activity and error counters
• Loopback test: verifies functionality of the physical EIA-232 interface.  The loopback test is not applicable for AccelePort RAS adapters.

This status information can be useful for troubleshooting an individual Digi port, or to determine the state of a Digi adapter, concentrator or PORTS module. DPA is installed automatically when the device driver is installed. DPA is character-based, and can be run from any terminal with access to the UNIX system.

To run DPA, enter dpa at the command prompt. Help screens are provided.
