Master Setup Process: Standard Setup

Follow these steps to install and configure a DataFire SYNC/570 or SYNC 2000 adapter for typical network environments:

1. Become familiar with relevant concepts and terms. See the following:
   • About PVCs and IP Addresses
   • About RFC 1490 Encapsulation
2. Gather the information necessary for the installation and configuration of the adapter. See the following:
   • Information to Gather: Frame Relay Configuration
   • Information to Gather: X.25 Configuration
3. Install the adapter. See the relevant hardware installation instruction card.
4. Install the driver. See one of the following:
   • Installing the Driver: CD
   • Installing the Driver: Downloaded
5. Configure communications lines. Choose one of the following:
   • Configuring a Line for X.25
   • Configuring a Line for Frame Relay
   • Configuring a Line for PPP
6. For X.25 and PPP connections, configure RAS ports and RAS permission levels. See the following:
