Assigning an IP Address: DgIPServe
Use this procedure to permanently store an IP address in an
EtherLite module. The DgIPServe utility should work on any Windows
system.
Note: You should have the latest firmware which you can
download from the Digi website at http://supportold.digi.com.
Procedure
- Download the DgIPServe.exe from the Digi website at
http://supportold.digi.com. It is located in the sts-els
folder under Diagnostic Utilities.
- Connect the EtherLite module to the network using an appropriate
cable.
Note: Do not plug the power cable into the EtherLite
module at this time.
- Execute the DgIPServe.exe program. Follow the program
prompts.
- Enter the MAC address. The MAC address is found on the back
panel next to the power outlet.
Note: The first six digits or letters (00AOE7) are
already entered. Enter only the last six letters and digits.
- Enter the IP address assigned by the network administrator.
Each EtherLite module needs a separate IP address.
- Plug in the power cable and a confirmation message should
appear displaying the IP address.
- Verify the network connection of the EtherLite module by using
the Ping program. See Using
Ping.
