Setting Up a Configuration Terminal

This topic describes how to set up a configuration terminal, which you often must do before you can configure Digi One RealPort and PortServer TS 2/4. The only way to avoid this step is to configure the Digi device's IP address with RARP or DHCP (PortServer TS 8/16 only) and then use a LAN-based telnet session.

Procedure

1. Cable a terminal to a serial port. Use the cable that comes with your Digi Device or another appropriate cable. For more information, see the appropriate Hardware Installation Guide.
2. Set terminal parameters to the following, which are the Digi Device's default port settings:
• VT-100 emulation
• 9600 baud
• 8-bit characters
• 1 stop bit
• No parity
