Removing the Old SYNC/570 Link Service

This topic describes two procedures. One, the standard procedure, describes how to remove the old SYNC/570 link service. The other describes how to ensure that the link service removal is complete. If the standard procedure removes links completely, there is no need to perform the second procedure.

Standard Procedure

  1. Access the Microsoft SNA Manager (not the SNA Server Management).
  2. Choose Tools > External Link Services.
  3. At the SNA Server Setup screen, choose Continue.
  4. From the Setup Options screen, choose Links.
  5. If the Digi SDLC Link Service or X.25 Link Service appears in the Link Service Configuration, highlight the entry and choose Remove.
  6. Respond to the prompts, exit the SNA Manager, and reboot your system.

Procedure for Cleaning Up and Verifying Link Service Removal

  1. Using the Windows Explorer, navigate to the SNA installation files: sna\system\hwsetup.
  2. Delete files and directories starting with digi or dgi.
  3. Start the Registry Editor by doing the following:
    1. Choose Start > Run.
    2. Type the regedt32.exe and then choose OK.
  4. From HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, choose HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft key.
  5. From the Microsoft key, you can delete all keys belonging to Digi (they should start with Digi or Dgi) if you know that you do not have any Digi products on your system except the SYNC/570 or Sync 2000. Otherwise, delete keys selectively.
  6. Exit the Registry Editor.
