Configuring a Line: Frame Relay

Use this procedure to configure a SYNC/570 line for frame relay.

Procedure

1. From the Internetworking Configuration menu, choose Network Interfaces.

2. Choose a SYNC/570 interface.

   The Select a Medium menu appears.

3. Choose Frame Relay.

   The Frame Relay Network Interface Configuration screen appears.

4. Configure the frame relay interface by doing the following:

   1. Specify the appropriate physical layer interface in the Physical Type field.

   2. For the Interface Speed parameter, specify the value assigned by your network service provider.

   3. On the Expert Configuration screen, specify the LMI protocol used by your network provider.

   4. Adjust other parameters as required.

Note: When a line is configured for Frame Relay, industry-standard encapsulation as defined in RFC 1490 is supported. Ensure that routers, bridges, and other devices with which the adapter communicates use RFC 1490 encapsulation. (Some may be configured to use proprietary encapsulation.)
