Master Setup Process

Use this process to install and configure the Solaris device driver for Digi RAS adapters.

1. Prepare for configuration. See Information to Gather. 

   Note: This step is necessary only for DataFire RAS adapters. For AccelePort RAS 4/8 adapters, the only required information is the modem nationality.

2. Install the adapter. See the appropriate hardware installation card for more information.
3. Install the Solaris driver. See: Installing the Driver: CD or Installing the Driver: Downloaded.

   For more information on the devices created during installation, see Device Names.

4. If you plan to use PortAssist Manager, load the PortAssist Manager Communication Agent. See About PortAssist Manager and Loading the Communication Agent.
5. Set up modems. This step is only required if you want to support dial-in modem connections. See Configuring a Modem: RAS Adapters.
6. Configure modem nationality if necessary. See Configuring Modem Nationality: RAS Adapters for more information.
7. For ISDN connections, configure PPP connections. See the Solaris online documentation for information on PPP configuration.
