Configuring Terminals and Dial-in Modems

Use the following examples to configure your Digi serial device for a terminal or dial-in modem. Digi ports are configured similarly to standard communications ports /dev/ttyS0 and /dev/ttyS1, although the name of the getty that configures your port varies from system to system.

Note: The following information is only meant to serve as a guide.

• A common RedHat terminal install script where getty is getty_ps would be:

dl:2345:respawn:/sbin/getty ttyCP1 DT9600 vt100

• A common Debian terminal install script where getty is agetty would be:

D1:23:respawn:sbin/getty -L ttyCP1 19200 vt100

• An example of an mgetty modem script which is available both in RedHat and Debian is:

T3:23:respawn: /sbin/mgetty -x0 -s 115200 ttyCP3
