connect

Use the connect command to initiate a local connection on a selected port. Anyone can issue the connect command, and multiple connections may be made by issuing multiple connect commands.

Use the escape key defined by the ConnectEsc option of the set user command to temporarily suspend a connection and return to the command line, or to switch between multiple connect sessions. The default escape character is CTRL-[ (Control key plus left bracket). The escape key may be used in the following ways:

To temporarily suspend a connect session and return to the command line, press the escape key (or key combination), followed by the Enter key.
To switch between active sessions (without first escaping to the command line), press the escape key (or key combination), followed by the number of the session you wish to enter.

Use the close command to end the session.

Command Syntax

Enter the connect command as shown below:

connect {[serial_port] | [id_name] | [hunt_group]}

Command Fields

Command Field	Description
serial_port	Specifies the number of the port on which to establish a connection.
id_name	Specifies the name of the port on which to establish a connection. See the set ports id=id_name command. Note: The name parameter is not supported on Digi One RealPort or PortServer TS 2/4 modules.
hunt_group	Specifies a hunt group, defined with the set ports group command. Note: The hunt group parameter is not supported on Digi One RealPort or PortServer TS 2/4 modules.

Command Example

In this example, the connect command opens a local connection on port 8:

connect 8
