Installing PortServer III Terminal Servers

Use this procedure to physically install your PortServer III terminal server on a network.

Procedure

1. Connect the PortServer III to the Ethernet LAN. Use a Cat-V cable equipped with RJ-45 connectors. Connect one end of the cable to the network; plug the other end into the PortServer III ETHERNET jack.
2. Connect your EIA-232 peripheral devices to the PortServer III. See the Cable Guide for EIA-232 cabling recommendations.

   Note: Record which device is connected to each port. You will need this information when you configure the PortServer III.
