Windows NT: Testing the Port Connection
Use this troubleshooting procedure to test the port connection from
the Windows NT operating system.
Procedure
Note: Before disconnecting any cabling,
ensure you have disabled the services (if you have already enabled them)
on that port.
- Place the loopback plug in the port you want to
test.
- Access Windows NT HyperTerminal by choosing Start
> Programs > Accessories > HyperTerminal > HyperTerminal.
- Under Connection description, enter a connection
name and choose OK.
- From the Connecting using drop down menu, choose
the port and OK.
- Ignore the port settings and choose OK.
The lower left hand on the window should display a connection time.
- Type anything.
- Choose Back to exit
