Testing the Terminal Connection: No Data

Use this troubleshooting procedure if the device is not receiving data and you need to test the terminal connection.

Procedure 

1. Disconnect the dumb terminal and install a loopback plug.
2. From the UNIX root prompt for each port, enter:

date >/dev/tty01

where date is merely a command used for a this simple test to provide text output (there is no other significance) and tty01 is the port to which the terminal is connected.

3. If the date appears, choose Back to return to the Master Troubleshooting Process.

If the date does not appear on your screen, check the power, cables, connections and so on. If you still cannot get the date to appear, contact Digi Technical Support.
