Performing a Telnet to the Port

Use this troubleshooting procedure when you are checking the connection to your operating system.

Procedure

1. Attach a dumb terminal to the PortServer port you are testing.

2. From the root prompt, enter:

telnet ipaddress [2000+port number]

where ipaddress is the IP address of the PortServer and an example of [2000+port number] would be 2001 for port number 1, 2016 for port number 16, and so on.

3. Choose Back to return to the Master Troubleshooting Process for your operating system.
