Testing the Terminal Connection

Use this troubleshooting procedure when you need to test the connection at each terminal.

Procedure

  1. Connect terminals to the ports (using a null modem cable, if necessary).

  2. Enter the following at the UNIX command prompt for each port:

date >/dev/tty01

where date is merely a command used for a this simple test to provide text output (there is no other significance) and tty01 is the port to which the terminal is connected.

  1. Choose Back to return to and continue with the Master Troubleshooting Process.
