Installing the Driver: CD

Use this procedure to install the Windows NT 4.0 driver for the Digi SCSI Terminal Server from the Digi International Access Resource CD.

Prerequisites

Procedure

  1. From the Digi CD front-end program, choose Windows NT 4.0.
  2. Choose SCSI Terminal Server.
  3. Choose Install Software.
  4. Follow the prompts until you get to a window called, Installed SCSI Units.
  5. Find your SCSI adapter in the displayed list.

Windows will also show your IDE hard drives in this list, even though they are not really SCSI devices. Your SCSI adapter should be identified by name, for example, AHA 154x, and show at least one device ID, called Initiator (this is the SCSI adapter itself, and is usually Target ID #7).

Note any device IDs displayed for your SCSI adapter. Any ID number, from #0 to #7, that doesn't appear in the list, is available for use with your SCSI Terminal Server.

NOTE: If you have installed external SCSI devices, such as scanners or ZIP drives, and they are not turned on when you start your computer, they will not report their IDs to the SCSI BIOS, and will not appear in the list. You must either account for these devices manually (by looking at the SCSI ID selection switch/jumper, or ensure that these devices are turned on when you boot your computer.

  6. Choose Next, and continue to follow the prompts until asked to restart your system.
  7. Answer No when asked if you wish to restart your system.
  8. Shut down Windows and turn off your computer. You are now ready to connect the SCSI Terminal Server to your SCSI bus. See Installing SCSI Terminal Server Units.
