Installing the Driver

Use this procedure to install a Microsoft Windows 95/98/Me driver for AccelePort Xp either downloaded from the Digi Support Web site (http://supportold.digi.com) or located on the Digi CD-ROM. PCI adapters are detected automatically by Windows upon startup.

Note: In some of the following steps, the functions of the operating systems will be the same, but wording and screen order might differ.

Procedure

  1. Turn on the system and start Windows.

Windows automatically detects the adapter and starts the Found New Hardware Wizard.

  2. Choose Next to start the installation.
  3. Choose Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended) > Next.
  4. Use one of the following installation methods:

    CD-ROM

    1. If installing from a Digi CD-ROM, choose Specify a location > Next.

The driver is located at D:\drivers\windows\w9598\xp, where D represents the CD-ROM drive letter.

    2. Specify the location of the driver or browse to it on the CD-ROM, then choose Next.

    Downloaded

    1. If installing a downloaded driver, choose Specify a location > Next.
    2. Specify the location where you stored the downloaded driver, or browse to it, then choose Next.
  5. When Windows indicates that it has located the driver, choose Next.

The wizard displays the device name. Check to ensure this is the device you wanted.

  6. Choose Next > Finish to complete the wizard.

The wizard now installs the driver for each port. The ports are automatically configured to the default parameters. If you need to change the port configuration, go to Changing the Configuration. Refer to the online help system for assistance.

  7. Reboot your PC.

When the installation is complete, the adapter is ready to use.
