Master Setup Process

Follow these steps to install and configure an AccelePort Xp adapter for typical network environments.

Note: You should not install the AccelePort Xp adapter before you run the Digi Driver Upgrade Wizard.

Procedure

1. Read the planning information. See Requirements.
2. Run the Digi Driver Upgrade Wizard on your Microsoft Windows 2000 system. This wizard helps you upgrade drivers for installed Digi adapters and add drivers for new adapters. Using the wizard ensures Windows Plug and Play installation of new adapters and drivers. See Installing the Driver for detailed information. See Upgrading the Driver for information about upgrading drivers.
3. Install the adapter. See the appropriate hardware installation card for information.

   Note: When you install multiple PCI adapters of the same type on a Windows system, it is sometimes difficult to determine which adapter you are configuring. To avoid confusion, you may wish to install and configure the adapters one at a time.

   If you run the Digi Driver Upgrade Wizard before installing the adapter, Windows automatically installs the correct driver.

4. If required, change the adapter configuration or the adapter serial port numbers. See Changing Adapter Properties and Changing Serial Port Numbers.
