Selecting and Adding Devices to Monitor

Use this topic to learn how to select and add devices to monitor.

Procedure: Selecting an Existing Device

  1. From the DPA - Remote Control Panel, choose the graph icon.

    The Select a Device to Monitor window will appear.

  2. Choose the device from the IP Address or DNS Name drop-down menu. If the desired device is not listed, do the procedure, Adding a Device, below.
  3. Set the community for the device from the drop-down menu. Options are public, private and <user-defined>. For more information, see Selecting the Device Community.
  4. Choose the Select button.

    The Monitor Window for that device appears.

    Should an error message occur when DPA - Remote is attempting to connect with the device, see Error Messages.

Procedure: Adding a Device

  1. From the DPA - Remote Control Panel, choose the graph icon.

    The Select a Device to Monitor window will appear.

  2. Enter the name or IP address of the device you wish to monitor.
  3. Choose the Add button.
  4. Set the community for the device from the drop-down menu. Options are public, private and <user-defined>. For more information, see Selecting the Device Community.
  5. Choose the Select button.

    The Monitor Window for that device appears.
