Configuration Overview: Telnet Terminal

Use this topic to identify major steps required to configure Digi One RealPort or PortServer TS from a Telnet terminal.

Procedure

1. Assign an IP address to the Digi device. See one of the following:
• Configuring the IP Address from the Command Line
• Configuring the IP Address with RARP
• Configuring an IP Address with DHCP (PortServer TS 8/16 only)
2. Telnet to the Digi device. See Configuring a Digi Device from a Telnet Session.
3. Configure the Digi device as required. Typically, this will include
• Configuring attributes of the network interface, such a default gateway
• Configuring ports for modems, terminals, and printers
• Configuring users
