TCP/IP Protocol Stack Setup

Use this procedure to configure TCP/IP parameters for the PortServers in your network.

Procedure

Verify the TCP/IP protocol stack module:

RealPort requires that the TCP/IP protocol stack be running on the NetWare Asynchronous I/O (AIO) server. To verify that the TCP/IP protocol stack is loaded, type the following command at the NetWare System Console:

<servername>:modules tcpip

If the TCP/IP stack is loaded, the OS returns information about the module.

Add IP information to the HOSTS file:

The AIO driver uses the SYS:\ETC\HOSTS file to find network PortServers. You must edit the SYS:\ETC\HOSTS file to add the DNS name and IP address of each PortServer in the network.

The IP address mask should be set to appropriate values as determined by your network class.

You must also set the DNS name and IP address in the configuration of each corresponding PortServer (see Configuring the PortServer for RealPort).
