Configuring a Device for a Printer

Use this procedure to configure a Digi serial device for a printer. Consult your operating system documentation for more information on configuring a serial device for a printer.

Note: This procedure is valid for Digi ports that will have printers directly connected to them.

Procedure

1. Connect the printer to the Digi port.
2. Enter this command at a root prompt:

   smit els

3. Choose Printer/Plotter.
4. Choose Printer/Plotter Device.
5. Choose Add a Printer/Plotter.
6. Choose osp Other serial printer.
7. Choose the appropriate .sts entry.
8. Choose an EtherLite or SCSI Terminal Server unit.  
9. Enter a port number in the PORT number field.
10. Set BAUD rate, PARITY, BITS per character, and number of STOP BITS to match the settings of the printer.
11. Set FLOW CONTROL to be used to match the flow control used by the printer.
12. Press Enter to complete the printer configuration.
