Using Ping

Use the Ping program to determine whether the EtherLite module is connected to the network. Pinging the EtherLite module from a system on the same subnet eliminates several possible problems that might hinder troubleshooting procedures.

Procedure

  1. Go to Start > Programs > Command Prompt.
  2. At the Command Prompt enter:

    ping IP address

An example is: ping 143.111.2.150. The response if the EtherLite is found by the network will be: Reply from IP address... If the EtherLite module is not found, a "Request timed out" reply will be given.

  3. In the event the network response is "Request timed out", check to make sure the IP address was entered correctly. If the IP address was correct, further troubleshooting will be necessary.
  4. Exit the program.
