Use this troubleshooting procedure to check the port parameter settings from the Windows 2000 operating system.
Procedure
Access the peripheral's documentation and record settings for baud rate, data rate, data bits, parity, stop bits, and flow control.
On the Windows 2000 system, right-click My Computer > choose Properties > Hardware tab > select Hardware tab > Device Manager > Ports.
Choose a RealPort port from the list, right-click and then choose Properties > Port Settings..
Ensure that the settings for Baud Rate, Data Rate, Data Bits, Parity, Stop Bits, and Flow Control are appropriate for your peripheral.
