Testing the Terminal Connection: Scrambled Data

Use this troubleshooting procedure to try to make the data on your screen appear normally. 

Procedure

  1. Verify that your terminal and operating system settings for the port are the same. Specifically, but not exclusively, look at flow control, baud rate, data bits, stop bits and parity.

If the settings don't match, change them. If the scrambled data is no longer there, choose Back to return to and continue with the Master Troubleshooting Process.

  1. Check your cable to see that it is pinned correctly and that it is of sufficient quality. See the PortServer Cabling Guide
