Master Setup Process: SNA Server Setup

This topic lists the steps you perform to set up the DataFire SYNC/570 or SYNC 2000 adapter to work with Microsoft SNA Server.

Procedure Overview

  1. If you intend to run the SNA protocols over an X.25 link, gather X.25 configuration information. See Information to Gather: X.25 Configuration.
  2. Install Microsoft SNA Server. This must be done before you install the DataFire SYNC driver. See the SNA Server documentation for more information.
  3. If you have previously installed the Digi DataFire SYNC/570 driver as a link service for SNA Server, remove it completely. This driver used the old SNA Server external link service and must be completely removed before you install the DataFire SYNC driver. See Removing the Old SYNC/570 Link Service for information.
  4. If you have previously installed the Digi DataFire SYNC/570 driver, ensure that it has been removed from the system. See Uninstalling the Driver.
  5. Install and configure the driver. Configure the driver for SNA, even if you intend to use X.25 as the link service. For installation information, see one of the following installation topics. For information on configuration fields, see the online help that is available from the Digi configuration wizard or configuration utility.
  6. Add the DataFire SYNC SDLC or X.25 link service to the SNA Server configuration. See Adding the Link Service to the SNA Configuration.
  7. Start the SNA service. See the SNA Server documentation for information.
