Use this procedure to configure a SYNC 2000 line for general frame relay properties. These are the properties that all frame relay configurations require.
If the Digi configuration utility is not in view, type wancfg and then press
ENTER.
Choose the SYNC 2000 tab from the Adapter Setup window.
Choose the line to configure from the Contents panel on the left.
Set the Connection Type to Frame Relay.
Set Clocking to either Internal or External depending on the clock source. For Internal, also set the line speed.
Choose Frame Relay in the content panel.
Choose the Properties. Consider the following if you need to change the settings:
For Maximum Frame Size enter the frame size of the line. This must be the size agreed to by your network provider. The default is 2045.
Choose BECN Flow Control if you want transmission to be throttled back when backward congestion notification is received. Most systems can use the default.
For Transmit Optimization choose Conservative, Aggressive, or the medium option. The default is medium. This setting buffers data that exceeds the Committed Information Rate (CIR). Most systems can use this default. The Conservative setting drops data in excess of CIR. The Aggressive setting forces data onto the line even if the rate exceeds the CIR.
Choose Line Management. For most applications of Frame Relay, these additional instructions do not need to be selected. LMI Revision is Disabled by default.
Configure the line for one of the following:
SNA traffic. See Configuring a Frame Relay Connection: SNA.
IP traffic. See Configuring a Frame Relay Connection: IP.
