Assigning an IP Address: Windows-based Store IP Utility

Use this procedure to permanently store an IP address in an EtherLite module. The Store IP utility should work on any Windows system.

Note: Store IP will work on an EtherLite module with a firmware version of 6.4 or later.

Procedure

  1. Download the storeip32.exe from the Digi website at http://supportold.digi.com. It is located in the sts-els folder under Diagnostic Tools, Utilities, Applications, and Clients.
  2. Connect the EtherLite module to the network using a 10Base-T cable.

Note: Do not plug the power cable into the EtherLite module at this time.

  3. Execute the storeip32.exe program. Follow the program prompts.
  4. Enter the MAC (Media Access Control) address. The MAC address is found on the back panel next to the power outlet.

Note: The first six digits or letters (00AOE7) are already entered. Enter only the last six letters and digits.

  5. Enter the IP address assigned by the network administrator. Each EtherLite module needs a separate IP address.
  6. Plug in the power cable and a confirmation message should appear displaying the IP address.
  7. Verify the network connection of the EtherLite module by using the Ping program. See Using Ping.
