Installing the Driver

Use this procedure to install a Microsoft Windows 2000 or Windows XP driver for Digi Neo or ClassicBoard PCI adapters either downloaded from the Digi Support Web site (http://supportold.digi.com) or located on the Digi CD-ROM.

Procedure

  1. Install the adapter in your computer. See the Installation Guide that was included with the adapter.
  2. Turn on the system and start Windows.

Windows automatically detects the adapter and starts the Found New Hardware Wizard.

  3. Choose Next to start the installation.
  4. Choose Search for a suitable driver for my device > Next.
  5. Use one of the following installation methods:

    CD-ROM

    1. If installing from a Digi CD-ROM, choose Specify a location > Next.

The driver is located at D:\drivers\windows\w2k\neo, where D represents the CD-ROM drive letter.

    2. Specify the location of the driver or browse to it on the CD-ROM, then choose OK.

    Downloaded

    1. If installing a downloaded driver, choose Specify a location > Next.
    2. Specify the location where you stored the downloaded driver, or browse to it, then choose OK.
  6. When Windows indicates that it has located the driver, choose Next.

If Windows displays a "Digital Signature Not Found" message, the Digi driver is not signed. You may see several of these warnings during the installation. Choose Yes to continue through each warning to ensure that the most current Digi drivers are installed from the path you specified.

  7. Follow the instructions to complete the installation.

The wizard now installs the driver for each port. The ports are automatically configured to the default parameters. If you need to change the port configuration, go to Changing the Configuration. Refer to the online help system for assistance.

When the installation is complete, the adapter is ready to use. There is no need to restart Windows unless you are notified to do so.
