Configuring an IP Address with DHCP

This topic, which applies only to PortServer TS 8/16, describes how to set up the PortServer TS 8/16 to use a DHCP server to configure an IP address. This procedure is not necessary unless the default configuration was changed because DHCP is enabled by default. 

Digi One RealPort and PortServer TS 2/4 devices do not support DHCP.

Command Line Procedure

Starting Point

This procedure assumes that you have done the following:

• Connected a terminal to a PortServer TS 8/16 port or established a Telnet session to the PortServer TS 8/16. See Setting Up a Configuration Terminal or Telnetting to a PortServer.
• Logged in as the administrator. See Logging on as the Administrator. 

Procedure

1. Set up the DHCP server as required.
2. On the PortServer TS 8/16 command line, supply the following command:

set config dhcp=on

3. Reboot the PortServer TS 8/16.

Web Interface Configuration

The web interface can also be used to set up DHCP on a PortServer TS 8/16.
