PortServer TS 8/16 Configuration Methods

General Configuration 

PortServer TS 8/16 can be configured from a command line.  In addition, it supports a web interface that allows you to configure many (but not all) features from a standard browser. For more information, see the following:

IP Address Configuration

You can assign an IP address to the PortServer TS 8/16 in the following ways:

• From the command line using the set config command.  See Configuring an IP Address from the Command Line. 
• From a DHCP server. See Configuring the IP Address from a DHCP Server. 
• From a RARP (reverse address resolution protocol) server. See Configuring the IP Address from a RARP Server.

Digi One RealPort and PortServer TS 2/4 Configuration Method

General Configuration 

Digi One RealPort and PortServer TS 2/4 can be configured from the command line. See Methods of Supplying Commands.  

IP Address Configuration

You can assign an IP address to Digi One RealPort and PortServer TS 2/4 in the following ways:

• From the command line using the set config command.  See Configuring an IP Address from the Command Line.  
• From a RARP (reverse address resolution protocol) server. See Configuring the IP Address from a RARP Server.

Methods of Supplying Commands

There are three methods for supplying Digi devices with the commands required to configure them. They are

• By accessing the command line from a directly-connected terminal. See Setting Up a Configuration Terminal and Logging on as the Administrator.
• By accessing the command line from a LAN-based telnet terminal. See Telnetting to the PortServer and Logging on as the Administrator.
• By downloading a configuration file from a host. See About Configuring a Device from a Remote Host and Downloading a Configuration File.
